FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Fayetteville Technical Community College and Red Hat announced a plan Friday to help veterans learn new skills and find jobs in information technology after their military service.
Fayetteville Tech’s “Transition Tech” program brings veterans on campus to receive comprehensive training that will help them find high-paying jobs. The two organizations have been working together to help veterans since 2004, but on Friday, they recommitted to helping more men and women seeking jobs.

Coursework will be offered on Linux operating systems and system administration, with 100% online and hybrid learning options available.
“I am so extremely grateful to all of you at Red Hat for having the confidence in us to work with us to help these young men who have served this country so admirably – and will continue to do so – to help them in that transition to the private sector and other opportunities that they might not have otherwise,” one Fayetteville Tech leader said.
The training positions students to pass Red Hat’s Certified System Administrator exam, which makes obtaining jobs at Red Hat very likely.
“With this new offer, we’re able to address the skills gap between local veterans and students and the labor market demands of employers by preparing them to keep up with the rapid pace of the high-demand field,” officials said, adding that there is a current need for IT employees.
