Saints upset Tech in four – Butte Sports

HELENA — The fourth time proved to be the charm for Carroll College Friday night.
The Saints upset No. 15 Montana Tech in four sets Friday during the semifinals of the Frontier Conference tournament. Carroll won 25-18 17-25, 26-24, 25-21. (Stats)
The win, which was Carroll’s first in four tries this season, sends the Saints to Saturday’s 7 p.m. championship match against the University of Providence.
Carroll beat Montana Western in four sets earlier Friday. (Stats) Providence swept Rocky Mountain College in the other semifinal.
Tech (21-9) beat Carroll (14-14) twice during the conference season. The Orediggers swept Carroll in Helena and won in five sets later in Butte. Tech also swept the Saints in the Frontier Preview tournament in Havre.

Katherine McEuen tallied 14 kills to lead three Saints in that category in the semifinal win. Lexie Gleasman added 13 kills, and Taelyr Krantz spiked 11.Hanna Schweikert set 30 assists, and Julia Carr collected 22 digs.
Karina Mickelson’s 15 kills led Tech. Maureen Jessop spiked 13, and Taylor Henley registered 10.
McKenna Kaelber set 45 assists for the Orediggers, and Sarah Hopcroft collected 22 digs. Emma Carvo nabbed 14 digs, and Logan Reed served three aces.
