Jhar-Jal e-Portal launched by Dept Secy – Daily Pioneer

In an attempt to provide better facilities to the people of the State, the Jhar-Jal e-Portal (Mobile App), Jhar-Jal Sandesh monthly magazine in Hindi and Meghpushp fortnightly E-Newsletter in English were launched by Secretary, Drinking Water and Sanitation Department (DWSD), Prashant Kumar on Thursday during a workshop organized for effective implementation of flagship programme Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
The Executive Engineers of 32 divisions and 36 Implementing Support Agencies (ISAs) from all 24 districts of the State were present at ViSWA Training Centre, Kanke, Ranchi for effective implementation of the flagship programs JJM and Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen (SBM-G) in mission mode in the villages of
Jharkhand.
Kumar inaugurated the programme in presence of Director, DWSD, Neha Arora, other officials of DWSD, JSAC, UNICEF representatives and other dignitaries.
The department has taken these initiatives for efficient monitoring and evaluation of various activities ongoing in the field under JJM and SBM-G, thus, to ensure effective implementation of its multiple components like coverage, quality and conservation of drinking water sources and simultaneously regularity in the water supply schemes in the state of Jharkhand.
Kumar in his address to the participants, emphasized on roles of ISAs and responsibilities of departmental engineers and teams for strengthening of the Village Water and Sanitation Committees (VWSC), empowerment of Jalsahiyas, Periodic mapping of  the water level of various sources, and Momentum building for JJM and ODF plus components through focused IEC-SBCC activities at community level.
Arora put focused on the importance of Solid and Liquid Waste Management (SLWM), ODF Sustainability, Swachhata Survekshan Grameen (SSG 2021) activities and Convergence among relevant programs of different departments like MGNREGA, 15th Finance and others.
 
Chief Engineer cum Executive Director, PMU, Sanjay Kumar Jha highlighted the need of well calculated actions for Water conservation to ensure source reliability and sustainability of the Piped Water Supply Schemes (PWSS) in the longer run.
Under Secretary cum Nodal Officer, IT, IMIS, IEC Capacity Building, DWSD Pranab Kumar Paul elucidated the various activities to be carried out by the empanelled ISAs in detail like Community Mobilization, Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), Survey and Inspection activities in the villages and also accentuated on innovative interventions like Internet of Things (IoT) for real-time GIS based improved monitoring of the water sources, water quality and water supply schemes.
The JSAC team demonstrated on Jhar-Jal Mobile Application and Web Portaland provided hand-holding training to the selected Master trainers from Ranchi and Ramgarh for piloting of the e-Portal initiatives in these two districts. After fifteen days, it will be executed in all the districts of Jharkhand.
