New generation Hyundai Tucson India launch: What we know so far – Times Now

The fourth-generation Hyundai Tucson was globally revealed last year in September and is now slated to go on sale in India. The South Korean carmaker will be launching this SUV here next year, probably in the first half of 2022. When launched, it will replace the existing Tucson that was launched here last year and will become the flagship SUV in Hyundai’s India portfolio. Ahead of the launch, the new Tucson has been spotted in India a couple of times, including quite recently when the SUV was seen being transported on a truck. The word on the street is that the new Tucson recently spotted in India was being transported to Nepal where the SUV was launched a few months ago.
The fourth-generation Hyundai Tucson looks radically different from the predecessor and is available in short and long-wheelbase models. However, we believe the carmaker will bring only the long-wheelbase Tucson to our shores. It employs Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness’ design tenet and gets parametric hidden lights and signature DRLs integrated into the radiator grille. Interestingly, these DRLs are only visible when the ignition is turned on.

The SUV also gets split tail lights with LED signature and an LED light bar running across the width of the vehicle. It is worth noting that the upcoming Hyundai Tucson will be wider and longer than the existing model.
The new generation Hyundai Tucson will have a layered dashboard and come equipped with provisions such as a large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, a touchscreen panel for climate control and other settings, ambient lighting, connected car technology, dual-zone automatic AC, and a raft of safety features such as forward collision-avoidance assist, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot collision warning, and more.

Globally, the new Hyundai Tucson is available with a choice between a 2.5-litre petrol engine and a 1.6-litre turbocharged powerplant that is available with hybrid and plug-in hybrid options. However, we believe the company could offer the SUV here with the existing engine options that include 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines.
