Top 5 adventure bikes launched in India in 2021 – Times Now

The adventure biking segment in India has been growing rapidly as more riders are now opting for lifestyle vehicles rather than just bikes that mainly facilitate daily commute. There is a growing segment of customers in India who often undertake long rides and do not hesitate from exploring the uncharted terrain. And then there is a segment of riders that want practical motorcycles that are well-suited for our Indian weather and road conditions. Customers in both these segments have started to lean towards adventure motorcycles, including adventure-tourers, and automakers are increasingly catering to these needs with new products. Let’s take a look at the top five adventure motorcycles (including adventure tourers) launched in India this year.

Hero Xpulse 200 started the budget-friendly adventure bike segment in India in 2019 and then took things up by a notch this year with the Xpulse 200 4V variant that gets a four-valve configuration for improved power delivery and refined performance. The ADV is powered by the 199.6 cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine that puts out 19 bhp and 17 Nm of peak torque as opposed to 18 bhp and 16 Nm on Xpulse 200 2V.  This engine comes paired to a five-speed gearbox but the gear ratios have been tweaked for better performance. Hero Xpulse 200 4V costs ₹1,28,150 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Honda CB200X is the Japanese brand’s entry-level adventure tourer that draws power from a 184 cc air-cooled engine in combination with a five-speed gearbox. This powerplant develops 17 bhp with 16 Nm of peak torque. The CB200X looks the part of an adventure-tourer bike, thanks to elements like front visor, under-cowl, semi-fairing, tank extensions, and upswept exhaust. However, a low ground clearance of 167 mm doesn’t make it an ideal motorcycle for navigating tough terrains. Honda CB200X will set you back by ₹1,44,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Royal Enfield launched the updated Himalayan adventure bike this year with a raft of changes, including a redesigned front rack, a new windscreen, a more cushioned seat, and an additional plate on the rear carrier for secured fastening of luggage. The ADV also gets Tripper navigation system from Meteor 350 for turn-by-turn navigation. At the heart of the Himalayan is a 411 cc unit that delivers 24 bhp, 32 Nm of torque, and is offered in combination with a five-speed gearbox. The ADV also gets switchable ABS for the times when you want the rear wheel to skid. The Himalayan’s price in India starts from ₹2.11 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Benelli’s latest addition to its India portfolio is TRK 251. Launched earlier this month at ₹2.51 lakh (ex-showroom), the TRK 251 is an adventure-tourer motorcycle powered by a 249 cc single-cylinder engine making 25 bhp and 21 Nm. This engine is offered in combination with a six-speed gearbox. The highlight of this bike is the USD suspensions setup with 41 mm diameter forks.
