The Virginia Tech Office of Sustainability is now accepting applications for its 2022-23 Student Internship Program.
The Office of Sustainability Internship Program offers students the opportunity to gain real-world professional experience in the transformative sustainability field.
Throughout the academic year-long program, student intern teams work on a variety of tasks, including partner projects with departments across campus, including Energy Management, Stormwater Management, Sustainable Dining, and Housing and Residence Life. Intern teams also plan and execute outreach events in partnership with community organizations such as the YMCA, the Town of Blacksburg, and the Blacksburg Farmers Market. Past events include Thrift Swaps, Pop-up Farmers Market, and seed plantings.
In addition, teams will assist in executing large-scale university sustainability campaigns through participation in Earth Week.
Team projects, paired with Career and Professional Development curriculum and other training, enable students to sharpen and expand their environmental professional skillsets while making a lasting difference in the campus community – and beyond.
Applications will be accepted through March 25 at 5 p.m. Interested participants can apply here.
To be eligible, students must:
Be an undergraduate student in good academic standing.
Be able to participate for both the fall and spring semesters.
Be able to work seven to ten hours per week on internship-related activities, including weekly meetings and workshops.
In-person interviews will take place during the first half of April. All applicants will be notified whether they’ve been accepted into the program by May 1. All students selected for the program are required to attend a mandatory meeting on Reading Day.
