Louisiana Tech women's basketball claims Conference USA West title – The News Star

Louisiana Tech women’s basketball clinched the Conference USA West Division title on Saturday in the Thomas Assembly Center with  a 82-56 win over UAB.
It was the first C-USA division title in program history. The conference didn’t utilize two divisions in basketball until last season.
And It was quite a turnaround for the Lady Techsters after losing the first four conference games.
“I’m just really proud of this group. From the players, to the assistants, to our trainers and managers. I’m just really proud. They have always believed, they kept their heads down they just worked,” said fifth-year Louisiana Tech coach Brooke Stoehr, who played for the Lady Techsters under legendary coach Leon Barmore.
“Great teams have great teammates and that is exactly what we have in the locker room. They just want to win. As a former player in this program I am just so excited to watch them experience this. It’s one thing to do that as a player but it is completely different getting to watch it as a their coach.”
Keiunna Walker led Louisiana Tech (19-10, 11-7 C-USA) with 20 points and Anna Larr Roberson added 19.
The Lady Techsters will receive a No. 1 seed in the conference tournament which starts Tuesday  in Frisco, Texas. As a No. 1 seed, Louisiana Tech will receive a double-bye and won’t play until Thursday. The Lady Techsters play the winner of Western Kentucky (18-11, 11-7) and UAB (15-14, 8-10) at 1:30 p.m.
