Virginia Tech coach Brent Pry and his staff landed their first high school quarterback commitment when Dylan Wittke, a 6-foot-1, 192-pounder from Buford, Georgia, made his pledge to the Hokies on Wednesday.

Wittke is the No. 849 player nationally, No. 83 player in Georgia and No. 45 quarterback nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He earned an offer from the Hokies — his second from a Power 5 school, joining Colorado — in early April and was on campus for the team’s spring game. He also had offers from Appalachian State, Liberty, Memphis, SMU and Georgia State, among others.

Wittke plays for a Georgia state power in Buford, which won its third consecutive Class 6A title last fall. He was the backup to Ashton Daniels, who signed with Stanford in the 2022 class. In limited action, Wittke completed 63 percent of his passes for 648 yards and seven touchdowns.

At an Elite 11 regional stop in Orlando in March, Wittke was the top combine tester, which blends scores from the 40-yard dash, 20-yard shuttle, L-drill, broad jump and more. He reportedly ran a 4.55-yard time in the 40.
