Huddersfield-born former Town player and manager suffering with long-term illness
JustGiving page launched for Town legend Steve Smith
– Former player and manager suffering with long-term illness
– Supporters who are able to are encouraged to donate if possible
The family of former Huddersfield player and manager Steve Smith have launched a JustGiving page to support the Terrier’s ongoing fight against dementia.
With a target to raise shared, his daughter Lisa has said:
“We are trying to raise £5,000 which will go towards a much-needed specialised dementia bed, rocking chair and one-to-one support, which will give Dad the support to still kick the ball each day.”
A unique figure in the Club’s history, Steve is the only Huddersfield-born person to be both a former player and manager of Town, with the now 76-year-old turning out in blue and white across 16 years between 1961-1977, before moving into the dugout from 1986-1987.
Having most recently worked in the Town Academy in a recruitment capacity, Smith is a proud figure in our history who many supporters have warm memories of.
If you’re able to, please CLICK HERE to support his fight against dementia by donating via JustGiving.
