Nalanda, a Public Relations Society of India Students’ Forum, launched – Exchange4Media

Pradip Parmar, Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of Gujarat, was the Chief Guest at the launch

The Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) Ahmedabad chapter organised an all-India seminar on ‘Building Trust: Shaping up the Future of Indian Public Relations and Communications’ on Saturday at the Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA) in Ahmedabad. Dr Ajit Pathak, national president, PRSI organised the seminar. Public Relations professionals from across some 26 city chapters of PRSI participated in the seminar.
Pradip Parmar, Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of Gujarat, remained present as the chief guest at the seminar. Dr Annurag Batra, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, BW Businessworld, New Delhi, presided over the event and Suresh N Iyer, Deputy General Manager, Corporate Communications for Western Region, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) was the guest of honour.
Alongside the seminar, PRSI also announced the launch of ‘Nalanda’ – PRSI Students Forum. Nalanda will create a platform of PRSI in the direction of industry-academia interface and prepare the next generation of PR and Communication professionals in India.
Nalanda – Public Relations Society of India Students’ Forum will be created by PRSI chapters in the University and Institute Campus as Public Relations Society of India Students’ Forum. These fora will enhance a public relations and communication specific mindset among the students of the Public Relations and Corporate Communication graduate / postgraduate courses and create a platform for professional Development.
Pradip Parmar, Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of Gujarat, during his address, said, “The PRSI, just like the government, is opening different chapters and working on overall development of people. I have seen very few organisations which work towards a holistic development and really admire this aspect of PRSI. I congratulate PRSI for starting with their new initiative, Nalanda.”
During his address, Dr Batra shared his anecdotes from his journey of being an entrepreneur. He talked about how his firm waded through the two years of pandemic – a time of disruption for everyone.
“Every crisis offers an opportunity. Whether you are in media or public relations, we all face a deficit of trust, information overload and the need to be perfect which grows in times of social media. To be a good communicator, one must focus on forging good relationships, focus on accuracy and be always ready to learn and put in necessary research,” Dr Batra highlighted. He also congratulated the PRSI for starting out with their new initiative, Nalanda.
Three institutes from Ahmedabad exchanged MoUs with the PRSI Ahmedabad chapter for participation in Nalanda. Dr Sonal Pandya, Head, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Gujarat University exchanged the MoU with PRSI on behalf of her institute. Similarly, Dr. Hari Desai, director, Institute of Journalism and Communications and Dr Shirish Kashikar, director, National Institute of Mass Communication and Journalism also exchanged MoUs with PRSI Ahmedabad.
“At Public Relations Society of India, we have always believed in nurturing the future generations with values and empowering them with knowledge and skills. I am extremely happy to announce yet another initiative of PRSI for the future PR/ Mass Communication professionals of the country. PRSI has 25 chapters providing professional support to the PR practitioners of the country and the new initiative is to prepare youth to be effective communicators by setting up of University / Institutional Chapters for students under the supervision of respective Professors/ Teachers.” said Dr Pathak, speaking about the initiative.
On the next day, PRSI members marked the occasion by visiting the Statue of Unity at Kevadia. Some 26 representatives of different chapters from across India remained present.
