“We are on track to rollout BSNL’s 4G with a target to launch services in the first week of January. By August next year, 5G services will be deployed in BSNL’s network. However, in some scenarios, it will be a simultaneous deployment so that the public sector telco can catch up with the private sector,” says Vaishnaw.

Ericsson will deploy its 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) products and solutions, and E-band microwave mobile transport solutions for Jio’s fifth-generation network.
“We had started 4G in India, but Mukesh’s (Jio) gave tremendous speed to countrywide 4G proliferation and forced us to run fast to catch up, and today Airtel will become the first telco to launch 5G services in eight cities,” Mittal said at India Mobile Congress on Saturday.
