Smartphones launching in January 2023: OnePlus 11, iQOO 11 series, and more – 91mobiles

As we gear up to welcome the new year, the consumer electronics industry is getting set to open the year with one of the world’s largest tech shows — the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. While the latter is an annual showcase for what often turns out to be the cutting edge of personal technology, beyond CES, tech companies also typically step up their efforts to launch devices right at the start of the year, and the most direct evidence of this lies in the list of upcoming smartphones in January 2023.
With the latest generation flagship chips from Qualcomm and MediaTek having been introduced over the past two months, the list of upcoming smartphones in January 2023 understandably includes a host of smartphone options that will see brands vie for the top spot among best-performing flagships. On this note, here’s looking at the top smartphone launches coming up next month.
The iQOO 11 series was launched in China on December 8th, and according to the company, the smartphone series will become the first range of phones powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 flagship chip to be launched in India. A launch event for the smartphone is scheduled for January 10th, although according to iQOO CEO Nipun Maurya, who spoke to 91mobiles, the iQOO 11 Pro is not likely to launch in India on the same day.
In terms of specifications, the iQOO 11 features a 6.78-inch LTPO4 AMOLED 2K+ display with 120Hz variable refresh rate, up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, a 50MP triple rear camera with 2x telephoto, a 16MP front camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging.

The Redmi Note 12 series comes as a follow-up to one of the most popular mid-budget segment smartphone lineups in India over the past seven years. This year, the lineup of Xiaomi’s latest generation Redmi Note series has been tipped to launch with three variants — the standard Redmi Note 12 5G, as well as the Redmi Note 12 Pro and Pro Plus models. While exact specifications are not out yet, the Redmi Note 12 series is expected to get specifications such as the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoC, at least 6GB RAM, a 120Hz AMOLED display with Dolby Vision support, and fast charging that can offer a full charge in 15 minutes. More details should be revealed in the coming week.

Expected price: CNY 1,199 onward in China (approx. Rs 14,000)
Having launched in China as the Moto X40, the Moto Edge 40 series is expected to come to India under the latter moniker, as per the Lenovo-backed company’s norm so far. The smartphone features an all-curved design to the front and rear, along with specifications that include a 6.67-inch full HD+ curved OLED display, and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Other key details include a 165Hz refresh rate, 50MP triple rear camera setup, a 60MP front camera, IP68 durability rating, and a 4,600mAh battery with support for 125W fast charging.
Launch date: January 22nd (expected)

The original Flagship Killer is back, with a design language that has many quite impressed. The OnePlus 11 series is all set to premiere in China and India, with a January 4th date set for China, followed by February 7th in India. The smartphone lineup could also bring with itself a sub-variant, called the OnePlus 11R, and so far, we have managed to catch a glimpse of some of its key specifications. These include the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, a 6.7-inch Quad HD+ 3D curved display with 120Hz refresh rate, up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, a 50MP triple rear camera, 16MP front camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with 100W SuperVOOC fast charging.
Launch date: January 4th (in China), February 7th (in India)
Expected price: Rs 65,000 (approx)
The latest generation flagship from Vivo was launched in China earlier this year, and while a confirmation of its global launch date is yet to be seen, reports and leaked posters have suggested that the smartphone could be launched on January 31st. Like the others (barring Redmi’s offering), this too is a flagship smartphone offering, headed by the Vivo X90 Pro+. The latter comes with a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, 50MP + 48MP + 50MP + 64MP quad camera setup, a 32MP front camera, and a 4,700mAh battery with 80W fast charging. More details on which variants would be launched in India should be found in the coming weeks.
