Rabindranath Tagore University launches skill-based vocational courses – Telegraph India

The Rabindranath Tagore University (RNTU) has introduced various flagship vocational courses across Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD, PG Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Diploma as well as Certificate programmes.
RNTU announced the new programmes via its Facebook post, and invited applications for the newly launched programmes.
These industry focused, skill-based programmes in vocational streams are crafted around industry-oriented, work-integrated, NEP (New Education Policy) aligned modules across key sectors like IT/ITeS, automobile, tourism and hospitality, healthcare, electronics as well as banking, financial services and insurance.
The courses are also available across other upcoming sectors including agriculture, food processing, telecommunication, textile technology, life sciences etc. The programmes aim at meeting talent requirements across industries through a flexible, holistic and well-groomed curriculum. The courses will also help to upgrade existing workforce with recognized degrees for vocational skills that they possess.
The innovative courses have been introduced to make students industry ready. The courses offer a plethora of benefits like earn while you learn option, real time work environment for effective training and flexible course selection.
Some of the courses offered by RNTU are BVoc degree in Retail Management, Diploma in Retail Operations, Diploma in Basic Nursing, Certificate in General Plumbing, Diploma in Surface mining technology, Certificate in Mobile Handset Repair Technician, Certificate in Mining Loader Operator to name few.
As a part of the programme, organisations can train, assess and absorb high performing students as full-time employees, which can provide many benefits to organizations, candidates and the overall industry as well . This programme also provides a great opportunity for the Industry to develop their manpower as per their own specific skill demand in collaboration with RNTU.
The programme has been introduced by UGC to cater to the changing business landscape, with an amalgamation of vocational and management ideas. The three-year programme is divided into six semesters, with two semesters per year. BVoc courses provide students with the flexibility through multiple exit and entry options. Students have the option of completing with a Diploma at the end of the first year, Advanced Diploma at the end of two years or the Bachelor’s degree at the end of three years. In addition to B.Voc Programmes, RNTU offers Masters of Vocation (MVoc) as well as PhD programmes in various sectors.
Registrations for the degree courses are open throughout the year, whereas main admissions are open in May–June, 2022, for the semester starting in July. For semester commencing in January 2022, interested candidates can apply between November–December, 2021.
